Courses at the Shiatsu Academy
of Tokyo 2005
The Shiatsu Academy of Tokyo is one of two facilities in North America offering
Shiatsu Therapy Training using the methods of the founder of the discipline,
Tokujiro Namikoshi. We offer a diploma to graduates of our professional Shiatsu
Practitioner course. The curriculum includes: Shiatsu
Theory; Shiatsu History; Shiatsu Technique; Shiatsu Philosophy; Anatomy: Physiology;
Pathology; Code of
Ethics; Eastern Medical Theory; and Nutrition. Students are now being accepted
for
the fall semester 2005. Inquire now about shiatsu courses. The new 2005 semester
will begin September 12, 2005.

The following companies’ employees have group insurance coverage
to get shiatsu treatments by the Shiatsu Diffusion
Society members: ING

Waterhouse Coopers; Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.
Demonstrations:
On October 22 and November
4,
sixteen practitioners from the Shiatsu Diffusion
Society, Shiatsu Academy of Tokyo and Thumbs
Up for Shiatsu Clinic, offered chair shiatsu to five hundred people
at the calling centre of Bell Mobility in Mississauga.
Also, Bob Fellows, President of St. Paul Travelers thanks
two senior shiatsu students from the Shiatsu
Academy of Tokyo, for their support in making their
Uhited Way Shiatsu
“10 Minutes of Heaven” event on November 4th at their King St. office
in the Standard Life Building a tremendous success.
The students “made
shiatsu believers out of many of [their] employees.”
Shiastu Diffusion Society (SDS) News
Youssef has proposed a Christmas
Party on Sunday, December
19th from 12-2 p.m. at
the Shiatsu Academy.
It will be a potluck and all members, pass members,
spouses, children, and students are invited. Please

you would be bringing for lunch. As well it is renewal
time again. All last year members will have recieved
their Insurance form in the mail. Please fill it out
and pay them directly. I have attached a copy of this
years membership form. Please

is also an insurance form for those who need it. Insurance
is $235.60 and will run
from Jan-Dec 2005.
At the SDS meeting held in November the
following was discussed:
- Christmas Party on December 19, from 12-2pm.
Starting a CEU program for SDS members as of January 2005.
- A member or members would have to head up the commitee to organize the courses,
teachers, and notification of members.
- Renewal of
membership for 2005, with election of board in January
2005.
- Working with the STAO for resolution of Municipal licence issue:
- Putting together a joint proposal that focuses on minimum training requirements,
ie: having attended a school recognized by the Ministry
of Training and Education, Ontario Government etc.
Talks with the STAO will begin in December of this year.

We are looking to set up an Association in Alberta for
Traditional shiatsu therapists but we need 5 people
who want to be on the Board of Directors. If anyone
is interested in participating please contact Grace

and we need to do this soon
if we want to create solidarity for Traditional Shiastu
across this country.
